The building blocks of Treasure Tour
Program Components |
Build to Suit! You can build your ideal Treasure Tour schedule by using and interspersing the following building blocks in any quantity or sequence as you see fit! It's completely flexible! Below is a brief description of the Treasure Tour components: |
Opening SegmentA time for check-in of children, stamping of Passport Books (workbooks with Bible assignments which are kept by the children), setup of mixed-age teams, and introduction of the day's teaching topics. |
Lesson SegmentThis segment is when the Treasure Tour lessons (summarized in the "Lesson Overview" section below) are actually taught. All Treasure Tour lessons are visual or interactive, are taught to all ages of kids, and focus on applying a key principle from a Bible book. You can have several Lesson Segments on any day of Treasure Tour. |
Treasure HuntA fun team race to “unlock” the next segment by finding “keys” which you have hidden on your campus. Each team is presented a clue which they must solve in order to be led to their team’s key. A day of Treasure Tour can include up to six Treasure Hunts! Use the included tools for setting up treasure hunts on your campus. |
Team ChallengeA simple game time where teams can work to complete a goal to “unlock” their next segment. All games include Scripture memory challenges to go along with the physical challenges. |
Scripture SearchA Bible challenge wherein teams race to “unlock” their next segment. Teams are presented Bible questions (and verse ranges where the answers may be found) which require them to search their Bibles for the answers and verse references. |
Puzzle PlayA team race to determine the location of your hidden “Treasure Chest.” Each team is given puzzle pieces which, when assembled, form a photograph of the location where you have hidden your “treasure.” Treasure Tour has provided tools to help you with this. |
Closing SegmentSummarize the day's activities, announce competition winners (if any), and close in prayer. |

What's Needed
Items you'll need to supply
Item | Explanation |
Classrooms Needed | One “Home Room” classroom and one game room. If Home Room is a gymnasium, no other rooms are needed. |
Volunteers Needed | One Director, One Teacher, a couple of Check-In volunteers, and one Teen Helper for each team (up to six teams). Volunteers may fill multiple roles. |
Supplies Needed for Games | Our games call for low-cost supplies which can be purchased from nearly any discount store like Walmart. The specific items you'll need are detailed in the materials themselves, and the quantities needed depends upon the number of children you will have. |
Paper | If you choose to print everything we supply, you'll need 500-1000 sheets or more of paper. See "Printing Solutions" below. |
Ink or Toner | If you choose to print everything we supply, you'll probably go through a couple of ink cartridges. Laser printing may be more cost-effective. See "Printing Solutions" below. |
Printing Solutions | It may not be necessary for you to print many of our materials. Using smartphones or tablets, you and your staff can access our materials from those devices and work straight from their screens. Or, you can have multiple people login to our website and ask them to print a portion of the materials you need. For example, you could ask teachers to print their own lessons, etc. Smaller churches will surely not need to do as much printing, and larger churches will tend to be more capable of larger amounts of printing. Higher amounts of printing will cause increased costs in paper and toner. However, even if your ministry spends as much as $150 for ink and paper, the cost of our VBS still comes in lower than most of our competitors. |
